It’s the balance between your weaknesses and strengths, that ultimately determines your level of influence…
Do you avoid your weaknesses and focus on your strengths?
If you do then you are probably like 99% of the population just cruising along in their comfort zones. The problem with this is that your comfort zone then acts like a limiting prison. Outside of this comfort zone is fear and doubt unlike the cozy safe familiarity that lies within your comfort zone. So it makes perfect sense to want to stay within those walls, or does it?
If you want to become an alpha influencer and the type of leader that people naturally gravitate towards, you need to gain a balance between your strengths and weaknesses. Most people tend to see this as black and white e.g. your either an extrovert or an introvert, you’re either highly organized or you go with the flow, but you can’t be both, or can you?
When you continue to operate from your strengths, you unconsciously bring with you the weakensses within that strength. E.g. a highly organized person (strength) will often be perfection oriented and highly critical at the same time. So their inability to go with the flow and not be so hard on themselves becomes a weakness. The trick is to become balanced.
Lets take a look at the 4 personality styles of an Alpha Influencer…
First we have the Fire or doer personality
A polarization of Fire is Water or the watcher
Then we have Earth or the thinker personality
And a polarization of Earth would be Air or the talker
Obviously we are just scratching the surface here as there is much more to each leadership style than what is written above. I’ve skimmed over it so that you have the gist of how it might look if you had all of the strengths of not only your opposite, but all four of the Alpha Elementals. Can you imagine how powerful you’d be if you had a balance in all of the strengths and none of the weaknesses? Not only would you easily be able to adapt to any situation, you’d be able to quickly build rapport and influence anyone you choose to.
You can start working on this right now by looking at how you can adapt the strengths of each of the different personality types.
- If you’re a watcher, how about speaking up and contributing to something that will create change the next time you have a chance.
- If you’re a doer, try experiencing compassion rather than being intolerant of weakness.
- If you’re a thinker, how about doing something completely spontaneous just for today.
- And if you’re a talker, allow someone else to shine and be the center of attention next time you’re in a social situation.
Ryan does a great job in explaining the Alpha Influence personality tendencies in the video below.
I hope this post enabled you to gain some insight into not only how limiting our comfort zones and automatic behaviors can be, but how powerful you can become if you choose to start stepping outside of them.
Can you relate to some or all of the Alpha Influence leadership traits mentioned in this post? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. And as always, if you gained any insight then feel free to share it with your circle of influence.

I really liked how you mentioned the act of gaining balance between your strengths and weaknesses. It’s easy to learn about the different personalty types. It’s even fun to be able to identify others and learn why they do things the way they do. But most people stop there and don’t take the next step and learn more about themselves and how they can find that important balance that makes them an attractive and magnetic leader.

Hey Ken,
I agree, most people don’t spend time learning more about themselves.
There’s a lot of conflicting information out there in terms of focus more on your strengths or focus more on your weaknesses, yet balance is rarely addressed.
Great to see you here and thanks for stopping by.

Great post Michaele. I think this is such important information for any of us online. I so relate to hours being lost.
Wow I relate to many of the Alpha Influence leadership traits. I have done many profiles over time and they still fascinate me.
The concept of balancing your strengths with your weaknesses is interesting. I feel like since I have come online I am continually having to work with me weaknesses. lol – I had so much to learn and it all felt uncomfortable. I did push through though and I know many people who have not done that.
Thanks for such valuable information.

Hey Sue,
I know what you mean about working through challenges when we first come online. But you did push through your weaknesses!
There is a lot of conflicting info out there directing people to focus either on their weaknesses or strengths in relation to online marketing.
Yet when it comes to personality constructs, it’s developing a balance between the different personality tendencies that’s key.
Great to see you here!

We limit ourselves to our comfort zone, when just stepping out of the box could change things dramatically. The lesson learned here is awesome, still trying to figure out what personality style I am.

Hi Randy,
Thanks for your insight and you’re spot on. Stepping outside of the limiting comfort zone of our mind changes everything.
The personality styles are tendencies and aren’t set in stone. You’ll find as you relate to some of the strengths, that they each carry their own weaknesses.
When you have a balance between all 4, you can harness the strength of that elemental in any given situation. Very powerful!
I appreciate your feedback.
